Kickstarter Update: First Week Goals

LISTEN UP, Y’ALL: We friggin’ love you.

The first five days of our Kickstarter campaign have been an absolute whirlwind. The enthusiasm and passion we’ve seen from our supporters is so far beyond what we expected when we first started talking about this project, before it became a tenable zine with a title and a contributor list and a website. Thank you!

As of 8:35 p.m. EST on Wednesday, May 9, we’ve raised a whopping $4,181 from 112 backers. That’s unbelievable! Every time we refresh our Kickstarter dashboard, we spend some time screaming at each other in our editorial chat. You’re all incredible and we appreciate your support more than you could ever possibly know.

That’s why we’re really eager to show you our cover art.

In case you missed them, we’ve posted some teaser images of Rose M. Honeyboy‘s stunning, vibrant cover art. We’re in love with it, and we want you to see it! When we reach the $6,000 mark, we’ll reveal the entire thing!

We asked you to take a guess at what our cover star is doing in a Twitter poll, and 63% of respondents said they think the person is rowing a boat. We’re not going to tell you if they were right, because that wouldn’t be any fun, but here’s how the rest of the choices compared:

It would be awesome to reach the $6k mark by the end of this week (which we can totally do!), so that you aren’t left in suspense too much longer! To help us get there, please share the Fatventure Mag Kickstarter link with your friends, loved ones, and followers, and remind them that literally every $1 pledged helps us get closer to reaching our goal!

Speaking of Twitter…

Some really, really incredible people have helped us boost our presence there. Our shiny, new pinned tweet has been retweeted nearly 100 times, by people like Roxane Gay, Gabi Fresh, Morgan Jerkins, Jess Zimmerman, the team at Ravishly, and more. Swoon.

Ashley C. Ford also came up with a killer hashtag, and Julie Murphy gave us some love, too.

We are huge fans of these creators’ works, so to have their support — even in the form of a simple RT — is just out-of-this-world amazing. We are so grateful for the positive response we’ve been met with since we first proposed the idea for Fatventure Mag back in January, and we’re STOKED to bring this mag to life and send it to all of our Kickstarter backers and contributors, all over the world.

We’ve also got new social media!

That’s right! We’ve been very busy bees this week. You can now follow Fatventure Mag on Instagram and like us on Facebook! To potentially be featured on our social media, tag your posts with #Fatventurers and/or #FatventureMag!

Keep your eyes out for more cool announcements coming your way!
