Welcome to FatventureMag.com!

If you’re here, you probably already know about our mission at Fatventure Mag: to produce a magazine featuring the work of fat-identified women, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming individuals who are or want to be active but don’t want to get bogged down in weight loss culture.

We’re asking writers, artists and photographers to submit pitches through March 10, 2018, at 11:59 p.m. EST.

Then, we’ll comb through the forms and send out final decisions on or before March 24, 2018.

So far, the pitches we’ve received are incredible and the response to this project has been overwhelmingly positive! Never in our wildest dreams could we have expected to see so much enthusiasm for this project and the space it provides.

This website will serve as a space for updates, especially once we launch our Kickstarter (date TBA!). It will also host contributor information (including social media handles) and more.

If this first crowdfunding effort exceeds our expectations, then this website may become more: a curated space for resources, personal essays, photography, art, comics, listicles, product reviews, or whatever we may need as fat people occupying a world that says, repeatedly,

You should lose weight, but not like that, or like that, or like that! Don’t go where we can see you and your fatness. Don’t love your fatness. Don’t dress it up. Don’t take it on hikes or set it on chairs or do anything with it. Just lose it. It’s not healthy!

In response, we say: bullshit.

And Fatventure Mag will be one of many efforts to fight that attitude, online and in print — especially in the active world.

We seek to be as inclusive as possible and represent bodies of many shapes, sizes, and abilities. We hope to build a community through this project where we can all learn from and grow with each other.
